This contest is open only to publications with a current membership in ACP as of the contest deadline of Saturday, Feb. 28, 2015. You will be notified as you fill out the form if your membership is not current. If you submit an entry via the online form for a publication without a current membership, the entry will not be included in the judging unless payment for membership is received by Feb. 28, 2015. You can renew your membership online at this page. Please contact ACP if there are any questions.
Since 1927, the Pacemaker has been the highest honor ACP gives to its members, and in 2000, ACP began awarding Pacemakers to online student publications. All ACP members are eligible to enter the Pacemaker competition, but they must submit an entry to be included in the judging. There is no entry fee for this contest.
The online publication must be accessible on the Internet during the months of March and/or April, when the sites will be judged. The site must be produced and maintained primarily by students. However, this does not exclude websites that use a hosted content management service.
Awards will be judged based on coverage/content, interactivity/community tools, breaking news, design/navigation and rich media. Sites will be judged by non-ACP staff members knowledgeable about design, journalism and interactive media. The contest does not include a written critique.
Pacemaker finalists will be announced in April 2015. Pacemaker winners will be announced at the ACP/CMA National College Media Convention Oct. 28-Nov. 1, 2015, in Austin, Texas. ACP also recognizes winners in its publications and on its website. ACP reserves the right to publish screenshots from entrants' sites.
